Thesis

Secret underground Irish Republican forces during WWI saw an opportunity that could end British rule in Ireland: The Easter Rising of 1916. Although the uprising failed, it helped the people realize that the rebellion's leaders were dying for them and their freedom in order to help establish an independent Ireland.  The Easter Rising gave the Irish people the confidence and momentum to overcome the barrier that was the British Empire.
